These last couple weeks have been quite the whirlwind! There’s a lot going on, between trying to hold some garage sales at the flip house, beefing up my photography portfolio and packing for our move (My mom, brother and I are all moving to different places at the end of October ) so busy is definitely an understatement around my neck of the woods!
I have to admit, I LOVE packing though. I’m such a nerd, but I love organizing specific items into bins, wrapping up my dishes in boxes with their corresponding label and sealing them off with shipping tape. Packing has made me think to myself, ‘why do I have so much crap!? When did this happen, how did it happen?’ I guess over time, I accumulated so much stuff and it has me thinking about minimizing my life a little (a whole separate blog post!)
Anyways, I wanted to share some of my latest projects with you.
Part of prepping for this move means refurbishing some furniture for my new apartment. I wanted to try to save as much money as possible when starting out in this new apartment because there are a few signature pieces I’d like to save up for (aka big girl furniture.)
I found this awesome dresser at my dad’s house and I saw so much potential in it as storage for my office space/photography studio. I’ve also been using this desk in my mom’s spare bedroom and knew it just needed a facelift to be up to my liking.
Yeah, you can definitely see the potential in these. What I love about both of these pieces is that they each have delicate detailing in the wood- I’ll be carefully painting these lines gold (for the dresser) and black or gold (for the desk- haven’t decided which color I want to do.) I’ve selected a really light grey for the dresser and a white for the desk. Both will have gold hardware. I’m obsessed with all of the pulls and knobs at Schoolhouse Electric.
Can’t wait to update you on the progress of these projects! I’m actually about done with the dresser, just waiting on the hardware.
As far as my photography portfolio goes, I’m really happy with how these images came out from a recent shoot I did with my friend Stephanie. She approached me because she needed images for her photography business and website and of course, I was so excited to photograph her again (I shot her wedding and most recently, her and hubby’s one year anniversary photos.)
I feel like I’m finally headed in the direction I want to be in with photography and it feels great! I also have a shoot this weekend (an awesome 10 year anniversary shoot with a vintage car!) I’m hoping to launch my new business by the new year.
